Welcome to our 69th Season!

This season marks the centennial anniversary of the passing and ratification of the 19th amendment. In celebration for this momentous occasion, we will proudly feature great female composers. Much of their work remained undiscovered and unplayed - simply because they were women. I am particularly excited to introduce our audiences to works by living female composers from the Midwest. This season will also feature a record number of soloists, guest artists, and composers visiting and working with our orchestra. Additionally, in an extremely serendipitous situation, our chamber orchestra will perform in Des Moines for the national convention of the PEO Women’s Sisterhood, a female empowerment organization founded on the Iowa Wesleyan Campus exactly 150 years ago.

As always, I sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at one of our many concerts and events this season!

-Robert McConnell,
Music Director & Conductor, SEISO

"our premier regional orchestra"

It's not that people don't like classical music.
It's that they don't have the chance to understand and to experience it.
-Gustavo Dudamel, L.A. Philharmonic

For more than 60 years, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra has provided the citizens of Burlington, Ottumwa, Mount Pleasant, and their surrounding communities with the opportunity to understand and experience classical music through rural outreach, educational opportunities, and quality musical performances. We are proud to offer concerts that are engaging and fulfilling for new listeners and seasoned veterans alike. In addition, the symphony offers free concerts and other educational outreach initiatives in communities throughout Southeast Iowa. We thank you for your support and hope to see you at one of our many performances this 2019-2020 season!
